No FIR yet in Doon's high profile molestation case

No FIR has been registered by the police so far regarding the incident of an ‘SDM City’ allegedly attempting to molest a girl inside the Cross Roads Mall in Dehradun on Friday evening in an inebriated condition despite the woman victim submitting a complaint.

Reaching the spot after being informed of the incident, the police were found trying to resolve the issue rather than hearing the victim concerned, raising questions over the cops' impartiality in cases involving high profile people.

The crucial question that begs answer is why the police had not conducted medical examination of both the ‘SDM’ and the victim once the complaint was made. According to sources, the accused SDM was in intoxicated state when he indulged in the act.

Moreover, Dehradun SP City Ajay Singh said that the CCTV footage which was recovered from the Mall revealed that people were moving to and fro around the ladies’ lavatory. And, the CCTV footage did not indicate anything about the SDM's complicity in the incident. Besides, he said the victim shied away from recording her statement despite being called to do so.

Sources said that as a young couple was standing outside the Cross Roads Mall, the accused, who was in an inebriated state, allegedly came near and started molesting the girl.

The accused allegedly moved to beat her male friends who resisted his advances. When police came on the scene, the accused introduced himself as the ‘SDM City.’
