The rise in incidents of crimes, including robbery, loot, burglary and snatching in the State capital in recent days has shown that fear of the law is not much of a deterrent for the criminals operating across the city. The dearth of verification drives and inadequacy of police patrolling are some of the reasons that can account for the spiraling crime-graph in the city.
In two incidents in Mothrowala area of Nehru Colony police station, criminals barged into houses and at gun point, decamped with cash and ornaments. In one case, criminals who covered their face in masks entered the house of one Rajiv Chauhan, in Nehru Colony and at gun point, decamped with a car and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. This incident occurred around 3.30 am on Saturday.
In another incident, Babita, resident of Mothorawala, registered a complaint, stating two persons had forced into her home around 11 am on Tuesday and decamped with gold chain and rings worth Rs one lakh.
Police station in- charge, PK Koshyari said taking cognisance of these two complaints, cases have been registered in the Nehru Colony police station and to solve this case, three teams, including one consisting of Special Operation Group personnel, have been formed and one of them has been deployed in the districts of Uttar Pradesh to nab the culprits. Another team is working here to solve the case. Based on description provided by Babita, police have made sketches of the accused. He hoped police will soon be able to solve these registered cases.
Director General of Police, BS Sidhu sounded disappointed over rising crime cases in the State capital and said that these crimes might have been done by a particular gang. Teams are working on, he said. He further said district police officers are being directed from time to time to stop recurrences of such crimes in their respective districts.
