Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has made it categorically clear that the Transfer Act-2017 in course of its execution would brook no favouritism. It is being implemented impartially showing no special treatment for any, however influential, he said while talking to The Pioneer on Saturday. He, further, said that the name of his wife is being unjustly dragged by some mischievous elements in the matter of transfer and posting.
“My wife had not taken promotion and has served in five different places in Dehradun district before she was posted in her present school. She, earlier, served in hard to access schools in Chakrata and Doiwala areas,’’ CM said and added in the same breath that the same yardstick would be applied for his wife as for any other teacher in the matter of transfer as per the provisions of transfer act.
Asked whether his Govt is considering some amendments on the act and if so whether the transfer process would be delayed, CM said that they have sought suggestions from different departments for possible amendments in the transfer act so as to make it more comprehensive. Rawat pointed out that there are some issues like keeping the class I posts out of the transfers act and giving benefit to the women employees who have crossed 50 years of age. “These issues might be considered in the amendments,” he said.
The CM’s clear stand on the impartial implementation of the Transfer Act with no special treatment for anyone, not even his wife, has assumed significance in view of the ongoing public debate on the matter of transfers and postings in the aftermath of the Uttara Bhauguna showdown with CM.
