Statistics from police headquarters revealed that not a single case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been reported at police stations of Rudraprayag district in 2016 and 2017. Rudraprayag district superintendent of police Prahalad Narayan Meena said that complaints of drug peddling are not being reported. Police had conducted drives against drug peddling but not a single case of NDPS Act has been reported in consecutive years. This district does not share border with Himachal Pradesh from where a considerable quantity of cannabis and other contraband is known to be trafficked. The district police are alert and checking drives are being conducted especially along borders with districts from time to time to put a check on drug peddling, he added.
