No BEd, TET supplementary merit list yet

The Bachelor of education (B.Ed.), Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed youths are paying the price of slackness of the State education department, as the department is yet to release the list of vacant posts remaining in the districts after the recent recruitment of 2,794 posts of primary teachers.

The education department had completed the process of recruitment for the post of assistant teachers in month of September. The department had assured the left out candidates that since many applicants of merit list had not attended that counseling process it would soon release a supplementary merit list but no such list was released even after three months.

These candidates had started an agitation for increasing the number of posts in the ensuing recruitment drive and on assurance of state Chief Minister Harish Rawat suspended their agitation on October 19.

Anger is simmering in these youths now as neither new posts are added nor the vacant posts are being filled. The President of B.Ed. / TET unemployed federation Manveer Rawat told The Pioneer that it is surprising that the education department is not able to collect information from districts about the number of  vacant posts. He threatened that the federation would be forced to start a massive agitation if the supplementary list is not released soon.

Rawat said the CM has assured that 389 and 789 more posts would be added in the recruitment drive but education department is yet to act on it. The education director R K Kunwar said that the districts were asked to send the list of vacant seats till December 20 but the DEOs of Pauri and Chamoli district only have provided the status in their districts. He said that remaining districts would be asked to send their data immediately.

There are more than 25,000 B.Ed. / TET unemployed youths in the state which are pinning hopes on the education department to release the supplementary list and increase the number of vacancies in the recruitment of primary teachers.
