DAV (PG) College has failed to implement lyngdoh Committee recommendations during nominations for students' union election. No action has been taken so far against any candidate for the violation of recommendations.

However, college election officer Dr Gopal Kshetri said that candidates have been strictly directed to follow recommendations within and outside college campus. In view of election campaign of candidates of four different unions within the campus, adequate police force was deployed within the college campus and the city.

Despite this, candidates and their supporters were witnessed blatantly violating lyngdoh committee recommendations. Minor scuffles were witnessed among student leaders and supporters within the campus. Police remained mute spectators when student leaders and their supporters were seen violating traffic rules on  the roads.

Students were seen indulging in triple riding, drunken driving, riding without helmet and creating nuisance in public spaces.  Four candidates including independent candidate Swati Negi took out rally in the college campus violating recommendations by inviting outsiders in her rally. College staff, City SP and SDM  witnessed candidates' rallies within the college campus silently.

Though the college administration had managed to remove the printed posters in the campus, candidates' posters were seen outside the campus. Kshetri said that two candidates Sagar Singh and Nidhi who filed their nomination for the post of joint secretary and university representative respectively, withdrew their nomination on Monday.
