The members of the Morcha gathered at the railway station and engaged in a vociferous protest. The agitators were demanding that the Union government should not neglect Uttarakhand in the railway budget. The NKM threatened that the people of the state would be forced to start an agitation if the state is continued to get ignored by the ministry of railways.
The members of the morcha handed over a memorandum consisting of their demands to the station superintendent of Dehradun. The memorandum was directed to the Railway Minister. In the memorandum the Morcha members said that it is very unfortunate that the extension of railways after independence in the state is almost zero. The NKM demanded that a high speed corridor linking Kalsi-Dehradun and Kalsi should be made similarly the Rishikesh-Karanprayag rail project should be extended to Gairsain. The extension of Dehradun railway station, extension of Ramnagar- Haldwani rail link to Tanakpur and construction of flyovers on all major national highways and state highways are some of the demands of the agitators. The spokesperson of the morcha, Gambhir Singh Chauhan said the State has lagged in the train services due to continued apathy of successive railway ministers.
