Demanding CBI enquiry into mysterious death of Chakrata resident Nitesh Joshi, who was a student of DAV (PG) College, scores of students and Chakrata residents protested at SSP office on Saturday.
Students led by Joshi’s uncle Arjun Dutt Joshi reached SSP office and shouted slogans against the police and health department. Police faced verbal arguments from the protesters. They demanded CBI inquiry be conducted into the death of Joshi.
They alleged that Joshi had died at Doon Hospital on March 11 due to medical negligence and his body was cremated in haste the following day without the administration and police trying to find out the relatives of the deceased. “It is unfortunate that the body remained unidentified during the cremation. This despite the fact that we lodged a missing diary at the Raipur police station on March 12. We came to learn that Nitesh was admitted at Doon Hospital as late as on April 2. We still do not know a thing about how he died,” the deceased’s uncle said.
The Chakrata residents and students had earlier met Governor and demanded inquiry into the death.
It should be mentioned here that Joshi went missing from his rented accommodation at Kandoli in Raipur on March 7.
