An NIMC team selected by the Union Government inspected the ultrasound centers in Pauri-Garhwal district and closed three such centres, two in Kotdwar and one in Satpuli after they found irregularities in the maintenance of the registers and in the monthly reports submitted to the PCPNDT under the PCPNDT Act.
Besides, show-cause notice has been served to the owners of such centres. The centres closed thus are Jain Ultra Sound & Scan Center Kotdwar, Mansa Maternity & Surgical center, Kotdwar and Jain Scan Center, Satpuli.
Pauri-Garhwal district chief medical officer Dr Manish Agrawal told The Pioneer that the team would visit places to see whether such centres are operating in defiance of the laws. “In case such are found they would be closed promptly,” he said.
Agrawal further said that after the inspection was over, DM Chandra Sekhar Bhatt has served the show-cause notice to all the three owners of the closed ultra sound centres. They have been asked to reply within 15 days, he added.
He said that the ultra sound centers closed had not sent the required documents and monthly reports for nearly one year. This is the reason why they have closed them, he said, adding that they were not doing sex determination tests.
He further informed that the Tehsil committee of PCPNDT will be soon constituted. The list of unauthorised doctors has been completed in the district and the action against these practitioners will be taken under the pertinent act following the nod of the State Government, he added.
