National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIElIT) director general Ashwin Kumar Sharma has made presentation before Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in Dehradun on Wednesday regarding the institute’s plan to open two institutes — one each in Haridwar and Almora districts — in the State.
Sharma expressed thanks to the CM for his active support in providing them with land aside from other logistic assistance. CM asked him to fix the training schedule as per the convenience of the students so that more and more youth can avail the opportunity. He said that timing must be fixed in such a way that it does not clash with their office hours if they are working. He stressed on flexible timing so as to enable the youths to avail the career enhancement opportunity to be offered by the institute while continuing with their jobs or studies. CM assured that the state government would consider to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the institute shortly. During the presentation, the additional chief secretary to CM Omprakash and principal secretary Dr Umakant Panwar were present among some other senior officers. Notably, NIElIT, an autonomous institute, is functioning under the Union electronics and information technology ministry. They have 37 training institutes spread across the country with 9,500 facilitation centres. In these centres, the youths are being imparted training about information technology to enhance their career opportunity as part of capacity building and skill development. The institute imparts training for SC/ST students free of cost and also facilitate them in placement.
