A week after the couple had tied the nuptial knots, the husband died under suspicious circumstances while he was staying in a hotel in Haridwar near the Shiv Murti on Wednesday night. The body being sent for autopsy, police said that the probe is on.
As per the sources, a resident of Devpura Haridwar, Nitin Sharma had been having a love affair for the past three years with a girl, Manisha, who had been staying on rent in his neighbourhood. After a certain time, the girl had become pregnant and had pressed Nitin to marry her, something he had kept on refusing. The girl had alleged that Nitin had lured her into physical relations while assuring her of marriage. After some time, they had reached a mutual settlement. However, the parents of the boy coming in the way, they started staying in a hotel. They had married a week before. On Wednesday, as the couple picked up a fight Nitin reportedly cut the nerves of his wrist. He was brought to a hospital in critical condition where he later died.
Speaking of the matter, Mayapur police station in-charge Ramesh Saini said, “Manisha had lodged a case against Nitin in the first week of July, alleging that he had raped her while assuring of marrying her later. However, a mutual understanding had resulted in their wedding. But on Wednesday around 1. 30 am, Nitin was brought to the district hospital. He died around 3 am. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The girl is pregnant. The family members of Nitin have alleged that Manisha has killed Nitin. We are probing the case.”
