In a new twist to the story of the allegedly rape survivor —a girl who claimed to have gone missing from Kedarnath during last year’s flash floods — the New Tehri Police has found things which stands contrary to the original contour of the story. The team has traced the parents of the girl and it has been revealed that her family does not belong to Kedarnath.
Previously, it was said that the girl’s parents had perished in the disaster but it was found that the family was not from Kedarnath.
The family is reportedly living in Bhojpur area of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. A missing person’s complaint has been lodged by the parents in Bhojpur police station.
Now the questions that are haunting the probe team revolve around as to how she had reached Tehri and who had coaxed her into telling that she was from Kedarnath.
The 10-year-old girl, found in Chamba on August 26, had claimed that her house had been swept away in the deluge that had befallen Kedarnath last year and her parents and
brother had perished in it.
The girl, following medical tests in which she was found to have been sexually assaulted, was sent to Nari Niketan in Dehradun. A police team from Tehri visited the Kedarnath area, but failed to trace anyone from the girl’s family.
Meanwhile, the girl informed Balika Niketan director that she was from Ghaziabad’s Bhojpur area. When team led by sub-inspector Ashok Kashyap visited Bhojpur, he traced her father. The family informed the police team that their daughter had gone missing on June 28, 2014 from her house. They had lodged the missing complaint in the police station accordingly.
Police sources confirmed the family had never visited Kedarnath.
Now the police are striving to unravel the mystery as to how the child had landed herself in the residence of a scrap dealer in Tehri. Tehri superintendent of police Mukhtar Mohsin stated that investigation into the case is underway.
