Dehradun police has become dictum of inconvenience to the people of Doon valley.
On Saturday they imposed new traffic plan on Rajpur road especially between Clock tower and Ashtley hall. Sources said that there is undeclared war between Dehradun police and DGP so both are unleashing experiments for the sake of media attention only. As per reports, traffics were diverted from Ashtley hall to Kanak Chowk then lansdown Chowk to Panchayati Raj temple then Clock Tower on Saturday evening. It means no traffics were allowed directly to Clock Tower or Gandhi Park. If you want to go to Clock Tower or Gandhi Park then you will have to take full round or around more than one kilometre otherwise you can't reach to above both destinations. Motorists were surprised when police asked them to take right turn from Kanak Chowk then right turn from lensdown Chowk then right turn from Panchayat Raj temple. From Panchayati temple both sides (up and down) roads were open for traffic to reach Clock Tower then both sides road from Clock Tower to Ashtley hall were open for Rajpur road.
Earlier traffics were coming Clock Tower directly by crossing Ashtley Hall Chowk. By doing this police had created chaos in the city in the evening. Talking to the Pioneer Rupesh Upadhyaya, who was supposed to visit Gandhi park from Neshvilla road, was asked to reach Gandhi park by crossing kanak, lansdown, panchayati and clock tower by the police. Hapless Rupesh said that it seems police has baton so they can do anything. Although he was unable to believe police logic that they are doing experiment to decongest traffic at clock tower. Another motorist kamlesh Sharma, who was coming down from Rajpur road to reach his home at Tilak raod, was shocked when police asked him to take kanak-lansdown-Panchayati-clock tower route to reach tilak road. He said that police has failed to regulate the traffic and now he is making route long as if police does similar practice at Ayodhya to regulate the crowd.
Business community especially universal petrol pump employee said that due to new route enforcement they received less number of customers on Saturday evening and expressed hope that good sense will prevail and police will resume old route. Most of the motorists were seen arguing with police, who were seen directing them to take new route, but they were helpless because they were asked by their SSP to implement the new traffic route.
