To ensure prevention of crimes, early detection of cases and, more importantly, maintaining peace, communal harmony and law and order would be his top priority”, said Senthil Aboodai, newly appointed SSP, Nainital, charting his priorities to strengthen the basic policing network in the district.
“And to achieve these goals, we have to strengthen our beat policing and community policing system. Only then a sense of security could be instilled in the public”, he maintained.
When asked how the Nainital district police would handle situations like communal tension that had erupted in the Ramnagar area in March this year after a person had uploaded pictures with some objectionable contents on Facebook, the SSP Nainital said that in such a situation, people’s cooperation is vital.
“Though our emphasis would be on going for prompt response, public support in such kind of incidents is vital”, the SSP added.
At the same time, he also called upon the Nainital district police personnel to be vigilant to deal with any kind of situation and to focus on solving the long- pending cases as early as possible.
Aboodai has emphasised the need to smoothen the vehicular traffic in cities like Haldwani in the district.
Whereas population of cities like Haldwani has increased significantly the pace of development of this area has not matched with that of the population hike.
So the Nainital district police would take the issue of vehicular traffic management as a priority so that smooth and safe journey could be provided to the citizens, he added.
It may be recalled that the State Government had removed senior Nainital district administration and police officials, including District Magistrate, SSP and ASP, following the immolation attempt in which an NSUI members later died in Ramnagar.
