New SP chiefs for Doon, Haridwar soon

Considering the fact that Samajwadi Party had performed poorly in recently concluded lok Sabha elections, SP State president Satyanarayan Sachan said that the party has been fighting for public causes in the past and will continue to do the same for the betterment of the society inspite of the recent poll debacle.

In his first formal interaction with the media after the lok Sabha debacle, Sanchan said that party had received a huge blow in the Parliamentary election but the party leaders and workers will continue to work for ensuring basic facilities like drinking water, employment, education and others to the downtrodden people of the State.

The party high command has decided to replace the district presidents of Dehradun and Haridwar and names of the new district presidents will be declared soon after approval of SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Rajendra Chaudhary will continue to be the Dehradun Mahanagar president.Sachan said Congress' policies are similar to those of BJP. Congress-led State government has spent crores of rupees for conducting the three-day long Vidhan Sabha session in Gairsain. He accused the Congress and BJP of failing to seriously discuss the issue of the permanent capital of Uttarakhand during the Vidhan Sabha session at Gairsain.

He demanded that State Government should declare Dehradun the permanent capital of the State. Regarding the talk of holding 15-day long Vidhan Sabha session in Gairsain during summer, the SP State chief opposed this and said that Vidhan Sabha session should be conducted in Dehradun because of availability of sufficient infrastructure here.

He further said that the party demands that the landless people in the plains should be rehabilitated in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand. Such landless persons should be given 10-10 nali (a land measure used in the mountains) land each in the mountainous regions from where people have migrated in search of employment and a more comfortable life.

“After 14 years of State's formation, the condition of farmers and craftsmen remains pitiable. Following sectoral mind set adopted by successive State Governments, the State has been divided into the plains and mountainous parts,” Sachan said.He further said that several SP workers are contesting the Panchayat election and expressed hope that party will perform well in the panchayat polls.
