The education department is planning to rein in the block and cluster resource coordinators by resetting the task assigned to them. The department has also rechristened the post as Block Resource Person (BRP) and Cluster Resource Person (CRP) after creating a separate cadres. It is learnt that on the insistence of the State Government, the education department has decided to increase the academic responsibilities of the BRP and CRP and curtailing their non-academic works in the process.
The education department seems to have taken cognizance of a recent report of Joint review committee of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). The committee had recommended that more than 1200 CRC and BRC of state should be handed more academic works in the schools. CM Harish Rawat and education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani have also time and again stressed the need to revamp the education system of the state.
The CRC and BRC are the basic positions of the education department who are assigned the tasks of providing education and other support to teachers apart from monitoring their activities. However in actual practice teachers who are resourceful and have proper connections manage to get them posted at these pivotal positions which involve less or no academic assignments.
