A city-based eye clinic has introduced a state-of-the-art cataract surgery machine which would reduce the time of cataract surgery to mere three minutes; the hassle free surgery would mean that the patient would not be admitted in the hospital for a cataract operation and most importantly this surgery is glass free. The cost of treating cataract of an eye would be Rs 85,000 from the Rs 4.5 crore machine.
Addressing the newsmen at the launch of 100% Blade Free Cataract Surgery machine here on Wednesday the founder of Amritsar Eye Clinic Dr Dinesh Sharma claimed that the machine is first of its kind in the country and would change the future of cataract treatment for the people of Uttarakhand and nearby areas.
Dr Sharma who underwent training in Philippines for operating the machine said Cataract can be termed as clouding of the eye lens. The lens is responsible for focusing the light entering in to the eye on the retina, which then sends images to the brain. As the lens clouds, it blocks light from reaching the retina, making vision blurry and eventually the vision is lost if not treated. Explaining the treatment procedure
Dr Sharma said that during cataract surgery, a tiny incision is made in the eye and the damaged cloudy lens is removed.A new clear lens is then implanted into the eye. He said that ultra modern technology of machine (lensar laser System) would improve comfort, enhances results and reduce surgery time for operation of cataract.
Dr Sharma said that the machine has a 3D image guidance system which ensures that the laser energy reaches the exact target in the eye. He claimed that cataract surgery by the machine is best and safest because it provides a complete blade free, painless, stichless, bloodless, injection- less and takes very less time than a normal process.
