The imposing new building of PWD has been constructed at a cost of Rs 813.99 lakh. The Engineer in Chief H K Upreti said that the building has been constructed on ‘Post Tensioning Slab’ concept due to which more space is available for parking of vehicles and other requirements. He said that provisions of Green Building concept has been followed with long windows and light and energy efficient provisions.
In place of bricks autoclaved aerated blocks have been used. In elevation Aluminium Composite Panelling has been used. Upreti claimed that rain water harvesting has been made in the building.
Many offices of the department which were working in rented accommodations would be shifted in the new building.
