Nepal would never do anything to harm the interest of its neighbour India, averred the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Nepal Army General Rajendra Chhetri while interacting briefly with the media persons at Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday. The visiting General who was the Reviewing Officer (RO) of the Passing out Parade (POP) held on the day said this when he was queried over his recent visit to Pakistan and his meeting with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa there. The Nepal army chief made it categorically clear that his visit to Pakistan was a routine one and it was part of a goodwill gesture between the two nations. He added that the relation between India and Nepal is very old and it has retained its traditional warmth for ages, a statement that indicates that it would remain so in the coming days despite Nepal seeking to better bilateral ties with Pakistan, a known stance of the Nepal Government which has remained unchanged despite changes befalling the political landscape of the Himalayan nation. General Chhetri said that he was very happy to be in India.
