Radio broadcasting in Nepal has helped the Social Welfare Department officers to find out the address of another inmate Kamla, aged around 45, now staying in Nari Niketan. She hails from Nepal. It is learnt that her family members would arrive soon in Dehradun to take her back home.
She is from Arghakhanchi area of Nepal, said Uttarakhand additional secretary (social welfare) Manoj Chandran on Thursday.
Chandran said that she had conversationally mentioned that she was from Argha in Nepal. “later, I came to learn that the place she was from is Arghakhanchi. The officials got in touch with an Arghakhanchi-based Radio anchor through website and photograph of the inmate was given to him too. The anchor while presenting his programme announced her name and informed the listeners that they could see the photograph of the woman on the Radio website. The anchor informed some four or five hours after the programme was over that he had received some phone calls, inquiring into the details of the woman. He had provided them with the phone number of mine. The inmate talked with the family members. We are happy to say that they would arrive here soon to take her back home,” he added.
