Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia stressed on the need for work under a proper framework to take India closer to becoming a fully developed country. He was speaking at a talk session on ‘Uttarakhand Against Corruption’ and ‘Responsibility of Women’ at the World Integrity Centre (WIC) India here on Friday.
Talking about his professional journey he said that working as a journalist, filmmaker then as an activist and finally a lawmaker had helped him understand the world better. “From that experience, I have concluded that there are two aspects essential for development - education and anti-corruption. Making these two pillars strong we can make our country developed”
Talking about the role of politicians he said, “Every politician talks about development but this is not new. Another thing that is in fashion is tokenism which is good for nothing. Our leaders should work to develop the quality of everything from within to make a better country.”
When asked about how important the role of women is in eradicating corruption, he said that they play a vital role as they can shape the mentality of their children about what is right and what is wrong.
Concluding his speech, he said, "Finland has inspired me a lot to work against corruption in India. The people there train their minds to be honest and educated."
The Himalayan Drug president S Farooq and FICCI FlO Uttarakhand chairperson Shilpi Arora also expressed their views on the occasion.
