'Need to reduce response time of firemen in emergency'

Published on:

The response time of firemen is less than two minutes in case of emergency calls. The officials must try to reduce it as far as possible, said Dehradun SSP Sadannad Date in a programme held at Dehradun fire service to mark National Fire Safety Day after paying homage to firemen who had died putting out blazes while on duty.

He applauded the firemen for the service they are rendering while adding that they should enhance their professional skills further through special training.

Date said that firemen are pressed into service during Char Dham Yatra and Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra as well as during the natural calamities like flood.

Firemen should take proactive measures to avoid any untoward incident especially during mela, protest and other occasions, he said.

He also inspected the fire equipment used to combat fire on the occasion.
