In a letter written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi the Health Minister of Uttarakhand Surendra Singh Negi has said that effective measures should be taken to prevent smuggling of drugs in to the country.

He said that it is learnt that drugs like smack are being smuggled into the country from the neighbouring countries in large quantities due to which our younger generation is getting trapped into the addiction of drugs. The future generation of our country is falling prey to the drug and substance abuse due to which the existence of many families is being gravely affected.

Negi requested PM that the effective measures should be taken so that these drugs are stopped at the International borders itself. He said that there is a need for campaign against those involved in this heinous business of drugs and gangs involved in smuggling should be dealt with an iron hand.

The health minister of Uttarakhand in his letter has hoped that the PM of the country would take immediate and effective measures against the menace of drugs in public interest. He also called for launching a massive public awareness campaign against drugs in the country.
