NDRF team deployed to ensure safety of Char Dham yatris

Published on:

A forty-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be deployed at Srinagar Garhwal in Pauri district in view of the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and to deal with any emergency.

The Pauri District Magistrate Chandra Shekhar Bhatt revealed that a letter in this regard had been received from NDRF HQ at Ghaziabad and necessary instructions have been issued to make proper arrangements.

Srinagar-Garhwal is an important halt for those travelling to Badrinath, Kedarnath and Hemkund.

The NDRF team will be deployed here to respond in case of any disaster in the district.

It is pertinent to mention that the NDRF personnel had played a vital role in the rescue and relief operations undertaken following the June 2013 disaster in Uttarakhand.

Though Srinagar is considered to be the central point on the pilgrimage circuit to Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hemkund, lack of proper teams for relief and rescue here are often felt especially during road accidents.

It is hoped that the deployed of the NDRF here will improve the rescue and relief efforts in emergency situations.
