While an executive members’ meeting was being held by the former Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari in the Jawaharlal Nehru youth hostel, a tiff arose between Tiwari’s son Rohit Shekhar and a Youth Congress leader to the extent of their manhandling each other. Police had to intervene in the matter and the Congress leader was taken into custody.

The long held dispute between the Congress leaders and office-bearers on the issue of executive committee and land grabbing of an NGO once again got aired on Sunday noon.

Notably Tiwari is the head of the national unit of Jawaharlal Nehru National Youth Centre and Congress leaders Brahmswarup Brahmchari of Jairam ashram and Ambrish Kumar are patrons of this centre situated in the heart of the city near BHEl barrier.

The centre has been running since 2008 and Deepa Joshi was made president of the executive committee but some Congress leaders had allegedly tried to grab the land of the centre showing some letters signed by ND Tiwari following which FIR was lodged against the alleged offenders—Harsh Vardhan Sharma and his supporters in the year 2014.

On Sunday noon, when the meeting of executive members was going on, Haridwar youth Congress lok Sabha President Ram Vishal Dev of Harsh Vardhan faction came to the youth hostel and picked up a fight with the son of N D Tiwari, Rohit Shekhar.

It is being said that Ram Vishal Yadav asked Rohit to get out of the centre and with the fight taking a violent turn, police was called. The police forcefully separated the quarrelling parties and took Yadav into custody. Till the filing of the report Rohit was talking about registering a case against the Congress leader.

When asked the senior Congress leader Ambrish Kumar said, “Some anti-social elements tried to create a scene, wanted to be executive board and raised their authority on the land of the centre. But it was outside the meeting hall. The meeting was conducted peacefully and during the meeting ND Tiwari recounted the days of British raj and freedom struggle. He said the centre would continue working for honing the skills of the youths.”
