Nautiyal roots for setting up helpline for men

Information commissioner Vinod Nautiyal stressed upon setting up a men’s helpline where they could put their words for their rights. Nautiyal was addressing a conference organised at Hindi Bhavan on Sunday.

Men’s Right Protection Forum (MRPF) that raises issues related to men’s right organised the conference. Speaking at the conference as chief guest, Nautiyal said, “There should be a helpline for the men.” Ramindri Mandrawal said that so far she had heard only about domestic violence against the women. But through the event she came to know about the kind of pain males go through.

Manmohan lamba, who attended the programme as guest of honour, laid emphasis on change in law for stopping misuse of the rules.  Vinod Vadthwal of the Samajwadi Party raised objection over political intervention in work of police. He said that such an intervention should be stopped so that the police could act in a fair way.

MRPF president Ajai Kaushik said that there was requirement of a separate helpline for the males since no action was taken on the complaints registered by the males with the women help line. He said since 2010, action was ensured on all 1,891 complaints registered by the women with the helpline meant for them, while no heed was paid to 656 complaints by the men with the helpline.

Under such circumstances, males were struggling for their rights. They also suffer mental trauma after false allegations are leveled against them. There should be a separate cell to look into such cases.
