All the eligible voters who have yet not been able to get their names enrolled in their respective areas voter lists, may do so on the occasion of the National Voters’ Day on January 25.
As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), all the eligible voters who have attained 18 years of age as on January 1, 2014, may get their names enrolled in the voters’ list and get the voter identity cards. Therefore, as the officials concerned of the district election office, Nainital, have said all such eligible voters who have yet not been able to get their names registered in the voters’ list, must get their names enrolled in the said list on the occasion of the National Voters’ Day on January 25.
Following the directions of the ECI, in a bit to make the voters aware about importance of voting in democracy, National Voters’ Day will be organised at district Head Quarter, tehsils, blocks and polling booths across the district on January 25, 2014, informed the officials concerned of the Nainital district election office.
The officials concerned of the Nainital district election office further informed that special campaign will also be launched to make the voters aware about the importance of the voting in the democracy.
The interesting fact is that ahead of the panchayat polls and general elections later this year, such voter awareness exercise may come in handy for officials concerned to educate the voters about their role in electoral politics.
