The national level junior skiing competition will be held in Auli in the first week of February.
With the necessary approval being received for this, the authorities in the state have stepped up preparations and related activities at the winter sports destination of Auli.
The State Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said that the state government aims to publicise Auli with the support of locals as a prominent winter destination among the tourists. The print, electronic and social media will be used for this purpose.
The clear sunlight in the mountains during winter along with the clean air and natural beauty are helping develop Auli not only as a winter sports destination but also as a picturesque location.
The Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar informed that the junior national level skiing competition is slated to be held at Auli in the first week of February.
Additionally, the state is also trying to secure permission for hosting the south Asian skiing championship next year.
The grant of approval for this is under consideration. He further said that the snow making machine is being used in Auli.
To ensure proper working of the machine, a maintenance contract had been signed with a French company in December last year.
Meanwhile, the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) is also organising skiing courses at Auli.
According to the GMVN managing director Jyoti Yadav, this year seven-day and 14-day skiing courses are being organised.
There are 30 seats in the seven-day skiing course and 10 seats in the 14-day course.
