Busy nowadays in making an estimate of his electoral strength among the voters and his supporters before taking what could his next possible step in the light of dropping his name from the list of probable party candidates for the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar lok Sabha seat, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Bachi Singh Rawat (in pic), has moved the ‘court’ of God Golu Devata at Chitai, Almora, the legendary mythological God of the Kumaon region, to find ‘justice’ for himself.
Describing missing of his name from the panel of name of three candidates for the aforesaid lok Sabha seat as an ‘painful’ experience and ‘injustice’, senior BJP leader Bachi Singh Rawat, who is popularly known as Bachda among his supporters, has already taken his grievances in this regard with the party’s high command nearly a week ago when he came to know about dropping of his name from the list of probable candidates for the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary constituency.
Now he has also gone to the court of the historical God Golu Devata in Almora, which is also known as dispenser of quick justice. There is a strong belief among the people here is that there could be delay in King’s court in delivering justice, but there is no delay in lord Golu Devata’s ‘court’ in delivering justice to the needy.
“I have already conveyed my concerns in regard to non-inclusion of my name in the list of probable candidates to the party’s central leadership,” said Bachda while talking to The Pioneer. “Now I have also taken it up with the God Golu Devata at Chitai, Almora, against those who are responsible for dropping my name from the panel of probable candidates, during my visit to Almora. Now the God Golu Devata will definitely give me justice,” Bachda said. “I would have welcomed the party’s decision in regard to fielding of any candidate. But dropping my name without consideration is really a painful experience,” added Rawat. The interesting fact here is that Bachda has not confined this inner party battle that he is facing today, to the Nainial-Udham Singh Nagar constituency. He has extended the same to the rest of the political map of the Kumaon division comprising the Almora-Pithoragarh parliamentary constituency.
Senior BJP leader Bachda has represented this Almora- Pithoragarh lok Sabha seat four times between 1996 and 2009. That is why it is quite understandable here is that his disappointment may also upset BJP’s winning prospects in the Almora-Pithoragarh (reserved) parliamentary constituency. In order to give this message to the party central leadership, Bachda is on a whirlwind tour of different pockets of Almora- Pithoragarh and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar lok Saha constituency nowadays.
“After meeting with my supporters and public at large in different parts of the region, I am going to meet my supporters and people in different parts of Champawat, Tanakpur, Khatima, Sitarganj, Nanankmatta to name a places on Friday, informed Bachda. I have got necessary feedback from my supporters and people at large during the past few days of my visit of different parts of the Kumaon region,” he added.
When asked about his next course of action, he did not divulge much, saying he would continue to work as a common BJP worker. However, it would be interesting to see ahead whether he sticks to his words or otherwise.
