Naithani suggests board examination for Class V and VIII students

The Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani requested the Central Government to provide schemes and budgets to Uttarakhand in the ratio of 90:10, similar to what the North Eastern States of country are getting. The minister made this plea while participating in the 59 meeting of National Council Education Research and Training (NCERT) on Tuesday in New Delhi.

Speaking about the policy of not failing students up to class VIII, Naithani said that for the benefit of the students and teachers the board examinations must be held for classes V and VIII. He also gave suggestion to exempt teachers from the tasks like measuring ration in Mid Day Meal scheme and said that an alternate plan should be made for this. Naithani was of the view that separate arrangement must be made for ration collection and preparation of food in the schools.

The education minister of Uttarakhand asked the center to approve the budget for repair and reconstruction work of schools that were damaged due to the disaster that hit the state in the year 2013. The meeting was presided over by the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani.
