The Nainital High Court has fixed September 17 as the date of the next hearing over the petition of CM Harish Rawat, challenging CBI enquiry into the case of sting video that purportedly showed the CM as seeking to buy back the dissident Congress MlAs, court sources said.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal pleaded in the court for the Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The hearing was inconclusive on Saturdaywith the court fixing September 17 as the next date of hearing. As per the petitioner, the Centre is adamant to get on with the CBI probe despite the state government having withdrawn the approval on CBI inquiry over the same while stating that the state government is conducting an inquiry into the matter by Special Investigation Team (SIT).
On the issue, the advocate representing CBI had earlier stated that the Centre had asked them to continue with the probe despite what the state government had done. The court had earlier asked the CBI to file a charge sheet in the court regarding the case as case was registered.
