Nainital admin to launch publicity drive today

The State Government which is already burdened with a huge task of rehabilitation of many families post the natural calamity in the Himalayan State, seems to have now discovered Uttarakhand's rich cultural heritage as a medium to reach out to the electorate ahead of the lok Sabha polls in 2014.

Under this assiduously cultivated move, different cultural groups will give maximum exposure to the popular measures that the Government has launched by staging street shows and cultural programmes, in every block.

Following the directions of the State Government in this regard, the Nainital district administration is going to launch nearly a fortnight long publicity programme in different blocks of the district with the help of these cultural groups from Friday.

Apart from different cultural groups hired to publicise the popular schemes of the Government, the information and public wing of the State Government will also be involved in this exercise, as the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration informed.

Under this publicity campaign which will continue till October 2, while the cultural groups will stage street plays and cultural shows to make the people aware about the Government schemes, the information and publicity wing of the State Government will assist the publicity campaign by way of distributing literature and publicity materials among the people in different blocks of the district, added the officials concerned of the district administration, Nainital.

While the Rimjhim Kurmanchal Cultural Group will lead this aforesaid publicity campaign in Ramgarh block, the Ma Saraswati lok Sanskrati Kala Samiti will perform cultural and street shows to make people aware about the Government's popular programmes in Dhari block, added the officials concerned.

Similarly, the Tara Ram Kavi and Party will stage street plays and cultural shows at the Bhimtal block  to make the citizens of this block familiar with the different popular schemes of the Government, while the Kumaon Sanskratik Uthhan Samiti will publicise the Government's popular policies and programmes in Ramnagar block during this nearly fortnight long publicity campaign.

Being aware of the public disappoint over unprecedented inflation during the past so many years of the Congress regime at the Centre, the State  Government's focus is on giving maximum

publicity to popular  measures to strike a chord with the electorate. Therefore, the State ruling party which is already taking a backseat on political front after losing the Teharai lok Sabha bypolls, doesn't want to lower its guard this time. Rather, the State Government has already started doing homework on the ground by popularising its popular schemes now.

As the State ruling Congress party insiders on the condition of anonymity said that the party has already conducted a survey to gauge the mood of the electorate as well as to check the popularity graph of certain potential party candidates among the electorate  for the 2014 general elections.

However, it is to be seen whether the Congress party becomes able to retain all five lok Sabha seats in Utrarkhand in  the upcoming general elections or not.
