Mussoorie via Dehradun: Traffic moves at snail's pace

Published on:
The people going to Mussoorie via Dehradun are having a tough time to reach destinations due to the rain-triggered landslides that occurred near Kolhukhet on Friday evening, resulting in road blockage.
While the debris is being removed, movement of heavy vehicles like trucks and roadways buses have been stopped for the time being along the stretch.
However, ITBP personnel constructed a temporary platform for the vehicles to move. The lighter cars are now moving.
The traffic cannot be diverted as it is the only route left.  The tourists returned with things being so while the daily commuters suffered the most.
The people resent the snail’s pace with which things are going on to have the stretch restored to normal traffic.
“I had to attend an important meeting yesterday. But I had to
return home as the bus could not have moved along  a certain stretch where landslides occurred,”  a commuter said.
The buses being not allowed to cross, the  passengers have to trudge the risky stretch  on foot to avail another bus to reach destinations.  “We have to wait for  hours to get another bus after crossing the stretch. The authority is apathetic towards  our plight,” rued a passenger Ravi Singh.
“Such landslides can never be stopped. But the  extent of the  adversity we encounter on their  count can be  mitigated,” he added.
When questioned, an official said, “The work is in progress and soon the passage will be cleared for all. We are taking due care of the security of people who are travelling through this route.”
