Much awaited monsoon finally arrives in Doon

Much-awaited monsoon has finally arrived in Uttarakhand on Saturday with the southwest monsoon having further advanced into many parts of the State. Kumaon region is set to have heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 72 hours starting from Saturday evening under the impact of the fast-advancing and deepening southwest monsoon, ushering in the monsoon whose arrival has been delayed by close to 10 days, the weathermen said.

According to the Met officials, the expected good monsoon this year would augur well for agriculture and horticulture sectors. While the state had received normal rainfall in 2016 on the 10 per cent negative side after two preceding years’ deficient rainfall this year would see a reasonably good monsoon, they say.

Uttarakhand Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said on Saturday that the entire state would come under the impact of the monsoon in the next two days. The duration of monsoon season in Uttarakhand is spanning around three and half months, starting from June 21 and closing on September 30, he informed.

The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Sunday is generally cloudy sky and light to moderate rain/thunder showers at many places.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Sunday is generally cloudy sky with the possibility of rain/thunder showers at isolated places.
