The former registrar of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University Mrityunjay Mishra who had been arrested on Monday was sent to 14 days’ judicial custody by court on Tuesday. Mishra had been arrested by a team of vigilance wing of Uttarakhand police.

Mishra was presented before the court of Additional District Judge (ADJ), Rajiv Kumar Khulbe on Tuesday.

The counsel of the Mishra demanded a copy of the FIR from the police which was provided to him.

Starting the proceedings, the prosecution counsel said that prima facie, Mishra has been found involved in a string of corruption cases.

He said that Mishra had connived with two firms supplying goods to the university and transferred money from the university account to the accounts of the firms.

He added that Mishra  had also kept ATM cards of the bank accounts of these companies and also received money from them.

The defence counsel said that no statement from the  bank manager or any other official had been taken by the police on the money allegedly transferred into the account of Mishra.

He claimed that Mishra is being framed in the fabricated  case as part of a deep- rooted conspiracy.

He further claimed that though no conclusive evidence had been collected in the case it had been registered under pressure from the administration.
