The long-standing problems regarding roads and parking space in Mussoorie Assembly constituency are expected to be resolved after a decision was taken for constructing various roads in Sarona Nyay Panchayat and parking facility at Sahastradhara. The laying of foundation for the parking facility is slated to be held towards the end of the current month. This was stated in a meeting chaired by Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi with Panchayat representatives and officials of the Public Works Department and the Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam here on Friday.
The MlA told the departmental officials that the condition of roads in his constituency was far from satisfactory. He said that he had also talked to the PWD chief engineer on the issue but pressure from some political persons is preventing the execution of this construction work. Joshi told the PWD executive engineer NS Kholiya that it is vital to undertake work also on all roads in the Rishikesh block. The work on Sahastradhara-Sarona road, Chamasari-Sarona road, PPCl Nalikala road and Chamroli Sarona road is of much importance and for this the officials concerned should soon submit the estimate to the State administration. Referring to the construction of the parking facility at Sahastradhara, the MlA asked the UPRNNl project director P Sharma about delay in the execution of this task. Sharma informed the MlA that due to some technical issues related to the parking map, the work had been halted at the administration level. After minor changes in the parking map, the same has been technically approved. The foundation laying for the parking facility will be held later this month, added the official.
