With monsoon season refusing to end even after the due date i.e. mid-September and in view of the rainy conditions prevailing across many parts of the mountain state as experienced on Friday, the state meteorological department, Dehradun, has issued advisory to the citizens and occasional visitors to the hill state to be careful during these rainy conditions.
Ideally the rainy season commences from June 15 and lasts up to September 15, but the monsoon that marked its arrival on time this year doesn't seem to be be in a hurry to end. However, as meteorologists maintain, the monsoon season is now at its fag end and will be over in due course of time gradually.
Interestingly, weather conditions had improved to a great extent in past few days, giving rise to the atmospheric temperature. But the people who had stopped using ACs and coolers to beat the heat, have now started use of the said heat-beating appliances here. Following the sudden change in weather conditions in different parts of region even in terai-bhabar area of Uttarakhand including Haldwani as witnessed on Friday, it seems as the weather experts here believe, the winter will also arrive sooner than later if the rainy conditions continue for a few more days.
Meanwhile, amid light rain showers, cloudy conditions dominated rather a Sunny atmosphere in this region on Friday, brining the temperature gradually down, but light rain showers occurring at regular intervals caused inconveniences to people including the school children and visitors late Friday afternoon.
At the same time, mobility also remained restricted on account of the rainy conditions during late afternoon today. Only occasional visitors and service class people could be seen on roads. However, the officials concerned of the state weather department have said that the prevailing rainy conditions may continue for some time, though the monsoon season is now its fag end.
“We have already issued an advisory urging the people and visitors to remain alert during these changing weather conditions,” said Anand Sharma, Director, state meteorological department, Dehradun, while talking to The Pioneer on Friday. At the same time, he maintained that given the prevailing weather trends it is believed that the monsoon season will gradually be over in due course of time. However, it is to be seen how much time now the monsoon season takes to return.
