The fast-unto-death of the former student union president of PG College Mohan Singh Rawat got into its fourth day on Friday. He is braving the bone-chilling cold, demanding improvement in health services in district hospital Bauradi. The medical team that arrived to check him returned without examining the protester as he did not budge from his stance of not allowing doctors to do the same. However, his stir picked further momentum with the chairman, municipal council, officials of HNB Birla Srinagar student union and many others throwing support.
The agitation being staged by the PG College students union started on January 15 with demands focused on the filling up of the vacant posts of surgeon, radiologist, physician and ENT surgeon among others, setting up a Blood Bank and providing ultrasound and other facilities in the district hospital.
However, with no heed being paid to their demands, Mohan Singh Rawat embarked on a fast unto death four days ago. The temperature in the town dipped following rains for the past two days. However, the protesters are unfazed. They are staging the sit-in around a small coal-heating oven.
