While laying thrust on providing the people  with the information of the string of welfare schemes launched during the three years in office of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre,  Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that  the Modi fest being hosted by the State Government at 22 places across 13 districts of Uttarakhand in this regard is meant to provide such information to the people so that those who are entitled to their benefits can demand them.

He was addressing the concluding day of the three-day Modi fest organised   in Rishikesh on Friday. He said that some more tough decisions are in the offing to set things right in the country.

"On completing three years in office, the Prime Minister is now giving his report card to the people. We are doing our mite too to follow the lead given by Narendra Modi,” he said.

Invoking   former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, CM said that he used to say that corruption flowed top bottom. “The State Government here is thus committed to weeding it out from the top so that corruption cannot trickle down to the lower rungs of the government and the public life. To fight corruption, we must take on the fount of corruption. With corruption being on its way out, India is fast turning into a power centre with other countries lagging behind it in terms of GDP growth. Things are happening thanks to the inspiring leadership of Narendra Modi. The people adore him and this is what is providing him with strength to stride ahead in his mission,” he said.

Referring to PM’s appeal to the people to stop collecting subsidized cylinders if they can afford non-subsidized cylinders, he said the people had voluntarily given up the subsidized facility. “This has helped the government to save crores of rupees which have been used in providing two crore gas connection to the really needy,” he said.

He also lauded the Prime Minister Mudra Yojna, claiming that  70 percent of the women have benefited from it. “Now we are focused on providing the benefits of the Atal Pension Scheme to more and more people. The steps taken by the PM are transforming the life of the poor people while bringing positive results for the country’s over-all development,” he said.

CM also spoke glowingly of the steps taken by the Centre to serve the interests of the youth. “Previously, they used to rush from place to place  to get their educational certificates attested by the gazetted officers. “Empathizing with their plight, Modi  made a provision to spare them the hassle while allowing them to self-attest their certificates. This has helped the youths based in the hills a great deal. Besides, it has instilled confidence in them,” he said.

Referring to the fast pace with which the National Highways are being built, Rawat said that presently 24 kilometers are being made daily  while it was mere two kilometers daily earlier. “The Centre is monitoring deadlines seriously and it is difficult for the agencies to jump the deadlines. A new work culture is emerging in the administration and the credit must go to the Prime Minister who is leading from the front,” he said.

Stressing on transparency in the matters of transfer, he said that the policy would yield positive dividends for the state.

Speaking of the improved condition of the life of the farmers, he said that earlier, they had been provided with spurious urea and that too erratically. “Now, the farmers are paying   Rs 250 per sack less and the urea is available in abundance,” he said.

He also referred to villages being connected with roads under the flagship  Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna. “Besides, we must mention the fact that solar power is now costing much less than earlier. “Previously, it cost Rs 16 per unit. Now it is costing Rs three per unit,” he said. Speaking of mining, CM said that earlier the state was getting Rs 13 crore per annum through mining. “But now, the state has earned Rs 20 crore in the last 20 days,” he said. Affirming that good intention is the key to success, he appealed to the people to listen PM Modi’s programme Man Ki Baat.
