The Jan Sangharsh Morcha head and former vice-chairman of the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Raghunath Singh Negi, has alleged that the Government of India does not have the accurate information about martyrdom of Indian Army personnel and the number of enemy intrusions in Jammu & Kashmir since the Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi began its term at the Centre.
Negi said that the Jan Sangharsh Morcha had sought information under the Right To Information Act from the Ministry of Home Affairs/Defence Ministry related to the martyrdom of Army men and ceasefire violations in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
“However, instead of providing the information sought, the Home Ministry is transferring the application under RTI to various divisions in an attempt to dodge its responsibility. This also clearly shows that the either the government does not have concrete date about the martyrdom of army men and Pakistani incursions or that the Modi Government has tightened the reins and prevented such information from being made public,” alleged the Jan Sangharsh Morcha chief.
Negi further went on to opine that the Government might be concerned and fearful of the public reaction in case the real data about martyrdom of soldiers, incursions/cease fire violations by Pakistan is made public as this might also reveal the actual number of martyred soldiers. “According to information gleaned from newspapers and other media, the number of martyrdom of soldiers, enemy incursions and ease fire violations in Jammu & Kashmir are more during the three and a half years under Modi as the Prime Minister than they were during the ten years of the UPA government with Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister,” added Negi.
