In tune with the BJP’s strategy to invoke former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the creator of Uttarakhand, the party chief Amit Shah said on Friday on the sidelines of the inauguration of a private hospital in Dehradun that the mantle of developing the State according to the dream of Vajpayee had fallen on the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
lauding the Prime Minister for his relentless endeavour to give due recognition to Yoga, Shah said he had submitted a proposal to the United Nations and appealed to it to consider that yoga could prove instrumental in fighting the root -causes of the diseases. “later, the Indian embassies circulated the literature on Yoga across the globe. Subsequently, the world recognised yoga as an imperative for better health. Now, yoga is being practised in as many as 170 countries. The credit goes to India,” Shah said.
“Now the PM’s focus is trained on AYUSH. The people are increasingly opting for Ayurveda,” he said.
“The just inaugurated hospital, meant to serve the people, is having 300 beds. The people no longer rush to Delhi or lucknow for treatment by the specialists. The modern medical facility would be available in Dehradun,” he said.
Tearing into the Congress for betraying the cause statehood movement, he said that the gory memory of what happened in Rampur Tiraha was still vivid in the public psyche here. “Now, Congress is trying its best to commiserate with the statehood activists. But the people here are smart enough,” Shah said.
Flaying the State Government for failing the State developmentally, he said that the state is unique as the cradle of spirituality and the heaven for the nature lovers. “Well aware of the spiritual legacy the state enjoys, the NDA Government under Narendra Modi is committed to give it the hallowed place it deserves. However, developmentally, the state is lagging far behind others. It is unfortunate for the State,” Shah said.
He also did not forget to mention the PM set to unveil the stone for the all-weather road for Char Dham circuit of religious tourism. “The Centre is set to award contracts worth Rs 300 crore for the ambitious project. This would leverage tourism substantially aside from creating job opportunities galore for the youth of the State,” the national BJP chief said.
