Mobiles, wallets allegedly stolen from security post at FRI

Published on:

Some of the participants of the Yoga day programme held at FRI said while they were on their back home from the venue that many of the items, including mobile phones, wallets and water bottles, were found missing when they went to the security post to collect them.

They said they had deposited the items there in the presence of the police before they entered the campus. However, no written complaint was filed till the time of filing this report.

They said that they had verbally informed the police personnel manning the security post about the items they have not found while returning. “We are naturally very upset over what happened. We did not imagine that this could have happened, firstly because it was a Yoga programme where the PM was himself present and secondly because there were police personnel keeping guard,” said one of them.

Police said they were investigating the matter. It was strange how the items could have gone missing when the security in and around the venue was very tight, said a police officer, adding that the participants had been asked not to bring items like mobile phones to the venue. “We are probing the matter and would try to recover the items if stolen,” said the police officer.
