Following directions of the Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat, a decision has been taken to initiate the Mukhya Mantri Swayam Sahayata Samooh Sashaktikaran Yojana (MMSSSSY) in Uttarakhand with the aim of achieving improvement in the livelihood of women self help groups being formed in the rural areas of the State.
This scheme is also aimed at generating employment for women in rural areas, mitigating migration from villages, increasing the participation of women in developmental works and making the rural women self reliant. According to official information, this scheme will be implemented by the Rural Development department.
It is pertinent to mention here that at the recent meeting of the State Cabinet held in Dehradun on June 6, with the aim of strengthening the Mahila Mangal Dal in Uttarakhand, the cabinet had approved opening of bank accounts with one-time amount of Rs5,000 each to the Mahila Mangal Dal.
Constructions with maximum limit of Rs three lakh to be undertaken by various departments at the Gram Panchayat, Nyay Panchayat and development block levels will also be executed through the Mahila Mangal Dal, the Cabinet had approved.
