Some MlAs, eager to be clicked along with the chief minister Harish Rawat while he was addressing the media, were rudely whisked away by the security personnel as they tried to secure a good place behind the CM. Earlier, the security personnel cleared the area to make sure that the visuals were clearer. One of the lawmakers who faced the humiliation was Narayan Ram Arya. The matter swirled in the house as many were shocked with the shabby treatment meted out to the MlAs who are supposed to enjoy a modicum of respect in the House meant for them.
Media persons attending the session were inconvenienced as the security personnel asked them to deposit their mobile phones . Initially, a few of them did what they were asked to do. However, later, some senior journalists refused to fall in line. Many of them said that the police acted beyond their brief with the responsibility of ensuring security of the House resting with the Marshal who acts on the instruction of the Speaker alone. Asked, the marshal denied having passed any instruction. The question is-at whose bidding police had acted on the matter.
As the Speaker adjourned the House till 12.30 pm the chief minster along with his cabinet colleagues and the MlAs preferred to have coffee in the open. During interaction, CM said that if MlAs had allowed him he could have brought two more resolutions and spoken for over three hours on Saturday. But the MlAs, eager to return to their constituencies with the election approaching fast, were unenthusiastic. Another amusing scene unfolded as a senior bureaucrat was found scurrying out of the House once it resumed after a break. One wonders what prompted him to act like a school boy who rushes out of the school after the final bell rings.
To make the House premises more hygienic, the district administration installed several biodegradable toilets in and around. Besides, they made sure that water was sprinkled frequently in the premises to stop dust from flying. This drew appreciation from one and all present there.
