The BJP MlAs raised the issue on the delay in appointment of a full-time Vice-Chancellor at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. The Opposition MlAs also sat on dharna near the entrance of the House alleging that internal politics was preventing the Government from taking a decision and appointing a full time VC in the university that had been without one for about four years now. Staging a dharna near the entrance of the House, the BJP MlAs sought timely appointment of a full time vice chancellor at the GBPUAT.

According to Kichha MlA Rajesh Shukla, the absence of the full time VC at the university for about four years now had negatively affected the university. He alleged that with the State Government focusing more on political factors in the selection of a vice chancellor for the university and with Raj Bhawan rejecting candidates for the post without a clean record, the appointment of a full time vice chancellor. The protesting BJP MlAs further said that the State Government

had not been able to provide a satisfactory answer regarding the delay in appointment of a full time vice chancellor. The opposition MlAs ended their protest after being assured of necessary action.
