In order to address Public Distribution System dealers' concerns, Parliamentary secretary and Rajpur Road MlA Rajkumar presided over a meeting at his office with the district food and civil supply officer and Rajpur Road constituency PDS dealers and directed the DSO to initiate measures for addressing their concerns.

In the meeting, Rajkumar discussed the status of distribution of new ration cards under National Food Security Scheme (NFSS); ration card holders' problems, dealers' demands regarding their commission and transportation fare of food grains from godown to shops among others.

The dealers informed that large number of residents had not received their new ration cards under the NFSS so far and have started enquiring about procurement of ration under the scheme which was launched on July 1. Moreover, the department has cancelled more than one lakh old ration cards and 50 per cent of the holders of these cards will be given ration under State run Food Security Scheme.

Dealers said that they have not received food grains though the state government has implemented NFSS. Uttaranchal Fair Price Dealers Association (UFPDA) president Jitendra Gupta said that the government has failed to increase their commission and transportation charge of food grains from godown to shop which were fixed many years ago by the Government.

Rajkumar directed the DSO Shyam Arya to initiate measures for redressal of the concerns raised by the dealers and grievances of the public.
