Gram Sabha Missras Patti has become the first lED (light Emitting Diodes) bulb saturated gram sabha of Sahaspur block in Dehradun district. Society of Pollution and Environmental Conservation Scientists (SPECS) distributed around 1200 such bulbs in six villages of the gram sabha on Monday, said SPECS secretary Brij Mohan Sharma. The objective of lED bulb distribution was to make the gram sabha energy- efficient and reduce their electricity consumption. This gram sabha consists of seven villages- Thaan, Barapur, Missras. Patti, Bakrana, luniyas, Kotda and Batoli. Batoli was saturated on December 31, 2016, he added.
Dr Sharma further said that the lEDs are the latest and most exciting technological advancement in the lighting industry. lEDs are small, solid bulbs which are extremely energy efficient and long lasting, he said, adding that lED technology also offers many additional advantages over incandescent, neon and compact fluorescent lighting devices - such as exceptionally longer life span (60,000 hours), enormously lower energy, reduced maintenance costs and higher safety.
Sahdev Singh Pundir, MlA Sahaspur, lauded the works being done by SPECS for providing lED bulbs to each household in the gram sabha.
