Though the Dalit youth Rakesh lal, missing from Gangi village in Tehri district since December 1, was recovered by police at Clock Tower  in Dehradun and was handed over to his parents on Tuesday evening,  the activists of Uttarakhand Samvaidhanik Sanrakshan Manch (USSM)- spearheading a stir on the issue of alleged atrocities on Dalit  community people- decided to continue with their agitation at Parade Ground in the city , demanding arrest of  all the 20 accused people from the upper castes under SC/ST Act. They said that they will not succumb to any kind of pressure from any quarters.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nivedita Kukreti said that the cheetah police while patrolling had  found the missing youth from Clock Tower and he was later handed over to his family members.

USSM leader Daulat Kunwar said that their relay hunger strike at Parade Ground would continue till the   Dalit community of Gangi village gets justice.

Notably, a spat between the upper caste and Dalit community people over a Dalit youth refusing to play drums and music during a wedding ceremony of an upper caste person broke out in Gangi village in Tehri district on December 1. The spat taking a nasty turn with the upper caste people allegedly threatening to burn alive the Dalit villagers, the Dalit people left the village in the quietness of the night and reached Ghansali in the same district on a bus in search of security.
