The M-Tech girl student of an engineering college based in Roorkee who had gone missing was traced in Dehradun by Haridwar police on Friday afternoon and later brought back to Haridwar. Notably, the family members of the student had lodged a case against a Jain monk Upadhyay Nayan Sagar at Bahadrabad police station in connection with her disappearance from the college. On Friday, police teams are learnt to have been sent to Saharanpur and Chandigarh where the ashrams of the Jain Muni are located. While the ashram inmates and followers of the monk dubbed it a conspiracy the monk is learnt to be on self-restraint   (Tapasya) since Thursday, not taking the cereals he used to take earlier.

The girl whose video went viral was doing M-Tech course in the college in Roorkee while doing the job of an assistant professor as part of training. The college authorities maintained that they never meddled into the private life of the staff members after the college hours. They said they did not know where they go and whom they meet.

Speaking to The Pioneer on the issue, SSP Haridwar Krishna Kumar V K said on Friday morning, “The family members of the girl student had lodged abduction complaint at Bahadrabad police station, stating that the monk had abducted her.

A video purportedly showing the girl had gone viral on the social media which is under probe. Our team is asking her friends questions about her possible whereabouts.”

After the missing girl was found and brought back to Haridwar, SP city Mamta Vohra said, "The girl was traced  and she was presented before the court in Haridwar. ADJ Pradeep Kumar recorded her statements. Interrogation is on."

Notably, the video had been shot on June 23 while the girl had gone missing on July 28.

The issue had come to light when her parents came from Khatauli to meet her in the college where they failed to find her.

Responding to the video,  the monk Nayan Sagar also had issued a video purportedly  containing his statement from Chandigarh which reportedly said that he knew who had hatched the conspiracy to malign him and the name would be disclosed soon.
