Four-year-old Ankit Sahani missing from his Kanwali road home since July 3 got reunited with his parents on Sunday. Ankit was lured by one of the acquaintances of his father and he had planned to sell the child but under pressure from the manhunt launched by the police, Ankit was left in a train and he was spotted by the railway police in Saharanpur. The boy was sent by the railway police in a shelter home from where he was brought to Dehradun on Sunday.

Addressing the meadiapersons here on Sunday, the Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Police, Dehradun, Nivedita Kukreti said Muzzafarpur Bihar native and a resident of Shivaji Marg, Kanwali road, Suresh Kumar had lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station on July 3 that his four-year-old son Ankit was missing. Based on the information provided by the parents, the police in a CCTV footage of the area on the day found that the child was being carried by a person. The parents of Ankit had expressed apprehension that their son could have been abducted by one lala Sahani, who is known to the family.

When the police team visited the home of lala in Haridwar, it found him absconding. His family members, however, told the police that lala with the help of Rajiv Sahani has abducted the child.

The police team later arrested the duo but the child was not recovered. The SSP said that police launched a massive campaign on social media sites on which the photographs of child were circulated. She informed that a constable Manoj Kumar of railway police of Saharanpur saw the message of Dehradun police on WhatsApp and informed the police team that the child is safely housed in a shelter home in Rampur from where he was taken to Dehradun.

The police team included Circle Officer (CO) Chandra Mohan Singh, Inspector B B D Juyal, Sun Inspector (SI)  Arvind Kumar, PD Bhatt, Arvind Chaudhary, Bl Bharati, Navneet Bhandari and others. The SSP has announced a cash reward of Rs 2,500 to the team. It is learnt that the child was left in the train on the same day he was abducted and yet it is  surprising that it took more than 13 days for police teams to reach to the boy who was spotted and sent to shelter home by the railway police of a neighbouring district.
